Dress your body right! - The Pear

We're all different and that's just good. Imagine if the world was just full of people that look the same, do the same things and wear the same clothes, boring right?
Well, our bodies are different as well, and to look good there are two things you must be able to do!
1. Be happy about yourself and glow with confidence
and
2. Know how to dress your body and look amazing however you are!

Celebrities with different body shapes

Even the stars we adore look different, but they've got expensive stylists to tell them what to wear, or at least many of them.
I want to write posts about how to look good however your body looks!
Let's start with the pear.
How do you know you're a pear?
  • Wider hips and thighs
  • Narrower shoulders
  • Wider bottom
  • Smaller bust
Shakira, Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson are examples of pear shaped women. When you are pear shaped there are certain do's and dont's, just like with the other figures.
Kristin Davis from Sex&TheCity knows how it's best to dress if you have the pear-figure.
Try to wear dresses that have details on the top to draw attention, tight around the waist and a bit wider at the bottom. Also try to wear darker colors at the below waist.

Don't wear tight jeans, highwaisted pants or tight skirts. Flashy belts also draw the attention to the part where it is least wanted, your hips. Don't wear full skirts or pants with large pockets.

Hope this helped! I'll be posting about other differnt body figures soon!
Kisses!

Trends of 2012 part 2.

The Streetstyle Trends
The trends didn't only come from the runways at first. We have many other 2012 trends that started on the streets and became international trends. Some of those trends are:

Jeffrey Campbell Shoes
The Jeffrey Campbell shoes were a big trend this year. Especially the Lita ones. It was worn by many fashionistas around the world in 2012 and will probably continue next year but not as proponent.
Spikes 'n' studs
Who doesn't love tight leather, spikes and studs? The biker-chick style was iiiiiin 2012! Leather is of course the ultimate tough-girl choice and matched with spikes/studs it's even tougher. Leather jackets were pimped with silver or gold studs, boots, bags and dresses as well. Have you noticed the leather dresses/tops that have the peplum? So have I!

Lovely in lace
Lace has been in and out the last years but 2012 it was totally in. Who did not own a pair of lace shorts this summer?! Also lace shirts, tops and dresses were a big thing and even bags with lace details. It was mostly black, or light colored.

High Low skirts
The semi sheer high-low skirts were BIG this year. It doesn't matter in what color it's always amazing! There were few in patterns and that I understand, they are usually much better in only one color.

Non-square sunglasses
Instead of square sunglasses we wore either round or cat-eyed sunglasses. I really like that trend because it's fun, quirky and fashionable to wear them. They were often black or metallic but sometimes you saw some in bright colors and it's really cool too!

 Boho-style
The Maxi-skirts, loose blouses, prints/patterns, big colorful jewelry and the messy braids made the boho-style. If we look at the celebs you can see that Vanessa Hudgens and Nicole Richie were real trendsetters with that one.

Furrrrrr
Mmmm, who doesn't love the glamorous and elegant feeling of wearing a warm fur coat. I have a faux fur collar (I would NEVER wear real!) and I adore it, especially now when it's winter. The hats, the collars and the coats made of fur are a big winter trend and will probably still be here in winter 2013.

Trends of 2012 part 1.

So, tomorrow will be the last day of 2012. What trends do you think were the biggest of 2012?
Are there any specific brands or designs that were BIG this year? Let's take a look at it.

The Runway
These are the trends that we saw  on the runways and only the bravest took to the streets! Of course, the trends were also big in the street styles as well on the runways and red carpets. These trends started in the heads of the big designers then went to the runway and ended in our closets.

Peplum
This little "poof" effect that peplum is makes a simple garment elegant and fancy at the same time, and still very simple. It was a very big trend in 2012, and still is, both on the runways and evrey day clothing among "normal" people. It has the best effect if the garment is made out of a good fabric so that the poof factor will work and a simple color. It looks very good on tall and quite slim women.

These outfits are more glamorous and fancy, taken from the celebs and runways!

"The Crop Top"
"The crop top" was a big trend especially this summer. It is a short top that shows the stomach and it was often matched with shorts or skirts. If we look at the red carpet looks including the crop top, it was matched with matching trousers or big skirt. Some took the crop top trend even further and wore so called bandeau. The bandeau is supposed to be worn f.ex. under strapless tops/dresses or see-through clothes but this summer it was often worn as the main piece of an outfit with a blazer.

The runway crop tops.
Cut-out
Dresses or tops with cutouts have been very popular this year and many of the red carpet gowns had cutouts. This trend was also very big in 2011. The singer/actress J.Lo. clearly likes this trend and has been wearing dresses with cutouts at many events. One of Hollywood's newest and most talented young actresses, Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games, wore a golden cutout dress which was praised by many fashion-polices.

 Color blocking
Color blocking was a very big trend in the 1960's and as they say, fashion goes round in circles. and here we have it again: color blocking. Gucci had a line late in 2011 including many color blocking outfits. That line was very popular among the celebrities and Kim Kardashian even wore one of the dresses. (It even has cut outs as well!) The trend is nicest when using bright colors, but be careful, it's very easy to mess up!

Sorry...

Hi dear Blog readers, (if there still are any)
I am really sorry for bad posting! I have been so busy,I had many tests and homework to finish up before the holidays and then  I went to Reykjavík to see an amazing concert with MIKA, and after that I was just enjoying a relaxing holiday with my family and totally forgot about the blog! I am going to Reykjavík again tomorrow to celebrate New Year's Eve and while I am there, my co-blogger will be in New York!! I really look forward to seeing the pictures she'll be taking and hopefully she will put some of them on the blog!
I had a wonderful time during Christmas and got a lot of wonderful presents, including a nearly 500 page book called Fashion. I love it! At Christmas eve I wore a cute dress from the British store Warehouse. It is white, knee long and has a big bow on the chest. I might put up some pictures....
I have also finally figured out what I want to wear on New Year's Eve, and you'll get some sneak peek soon! I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday surrounded by family and friends(and cakes...)!

Kisses!

A Matter of Taste

These pictures are from a book by Fulvio Bonavia. He is an Italian photographer and he made this book about fashion and food. In the book there are pictures of berry bags, pasta shoes, corn espadrilles and a lot more. It is actually quite funny to look at these pictures and some of the things are really cool. Would you ever wear something of this?

There are a lot of different shoes and it's individual which ones are the best. Some like comfortable and cute flats and others like sky high heels. Which ones do you like more?

Alexa Chung - Steal the Style!

Alexa Chung is a 29 year old fashion role model. She is now working as a contributing editor at British Vogue. Her sense of style is very special and nice. She wears cute but edgy outfits and completes them with the perfect accessories. She has recently gotten a British Fashion Award and here's how you can steal her style!

http://cdn.lipstiq.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Alexa-Chung1-729299.jpeg
Here you can see some of her typical outfits. Striped sweaters, shorts, cute bags and socks coming out of the shoes.

Let's begin with the must-haves:
Cardigans : Alexa often wears nice cardigans over her look. They are often "slouchy" and in diffrent colors/patterns.
Blouses: She wears a lot of blouses with some cute details like bows, bird pattern or polka dots.
Comfy, oversized clothes: She does not very often wear tight clothes (except maybe jeans), but some comfy but chic clothes. She has a lot of striped jumpers/sweaters.
Skirts/shorts: She has amazing legs and likes to show them off wearing skirts are shorts. When it's colder she wears leggings beneath.
Socks in heels: When she wears the right heels she wears cute socks in it, but be careful to choose the moment right so it wont look silly. Really easy to mess it up!
Edgy jewelery: To perfect the outfit she matches it with big, edgy jewelery like big necklaces in bright colors or big rings.
Cute bag: She has actually designed a bag for Mulberry, called the Alexa bag. And she has that bag, or another one like that all the time. It is brown, kinda britpop style.
Natural make-up: Her make-up is very natural and her hair is often down.
