Trends of 2012 part 1.

So, tomorrow will be the last day of 2012. What trends do you think were the biggest of 2012?
Are there any specific brands or designs that were BIG this year? Let's take a look at it.

The Runway
These are the trends that we saw  on the runways and only the bravest took to the streets! Of course, the trends were also big in the street styles as well on the runways and red carpets. These trends started in the heads of the big designers then went to the runway and ended in our closets.

Peplum
This little "poof" effect that peplum is makes a simple garment elegant and fancy at the same time, and still very simple. It was a very big trend in 2012, and still is, both on the runways and evrey day clothing among "normal" people. It has the best effect if the garment is made out of a good fabric so that the poof factor will work and a simple color. It looks very good on tall and quite slim women.

"The Crop Top"
"The crop top" was a big trend especially this summer. It is a short top that shows the stomach and it was often matched with shorts or skirts. If we look at the red carpet looks including the crop top, it was matched with matching trousers or big skirt. Some took the crop top trend even further and wore so called bandeau. The bandeau is supposed to be worn f.ex. under strapless tops/dresses or see-through clothes but this summer it was often worn as the main piece of an outfit with a blazer.

Cut-out
Dresses or tops with cutouts have been very popular this year and many of the red carpet gowns had cutouts. This trend was also very big in 2011. The singer/actress J.Lo. clearly likes this trend and has been wearing dresses with cutouts at many events. One of Hollywood's newest and most talented young actresses, Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games, wore a golden cutout dress which was praised by many fashion-polices.

 Color blocking
Color blocking was a very big trend in the 1960's and as they say, fashion goes round in circles. and here we have it again: color blocking. Gucci had a line late in 2011 including many color blocking outfits. That line was very popular among the celebrities and Kim Kardashian even wore one of the dresses. (It even has cut outs as well!) The trend is nicest when using bright colors, but be careful, it's very easy to mess up!
