Designers through the ages - Christian Dior

Dior Logo.svg
Christian Dior was born on January 21st 1905 in Granville, France. When he was 5 years old his family moved to Paris. His parents were wealthy and had hopes for Christian to become a diplomatic. He was very artistic and when he moved out his father financed him and he held out an art gallery with a friend until his father had financial problems during the Great Depression.

From then and until 1940 he worked with fashion designer Robert Pigue, when he was called up for military service. When he left the army he worked at fashion houses until he founded his very own on December 16 1946.
The dresses he made were many shaped like an hour glass, tiny waists, high busts, soft shoulders and longer skirts. He died October 23  1957 in Italy. He was a big name in Haute Couture and his work has been inspiration to many designers.
